Quickstart

You need a terminal and an SSH key. Your SSH key is your account. ssh turm.dev signs you up.

No key yet? ssh-keygen -t ed25519

The first connection creates your account.

A new account has no plan. 7-day free trial, card required, cancel anytime. The trial is 1 vCPU, 1 GiB, 2 VMs, 100 GB disk and 10 GB traffic. billing subscribe personal-2 prints the checkout link. personal-2 (€15/mo) starts when the trial ends, unless you cancel.
  1. Sign up. Connect to the lobby. The first connection with a new key creates your account.

    Terminal window
    ssh turm.dev

You get an interactive prompt. Type help to list every command, or exit to leave.

  2. Create a VM. This works once the plan is active.

    Terminal window
    ssh turm.dev new --name=demo

new --example=web replaces the page at the VM's HTTPS URL. new --example=agent installs pi, which uses the LLM gateway. examples lists them.

The VM boots from the default image, agentuntu. It shares your plan’s CPU and RAM with your other VMs. See Pools.

  3. Connect to it.

    Terminal window
    ssh vm+demo@turm.dev

You land in a root shell. Copy files with scp or sftp the same way:

    Terminal window
    scp ./site.tar.gz vm+demo@turm.dev:/root/
  4. Open its website. Anything listening on port 80 in the VM is served at:

    https://demo.turm.dev

Only you can open it until you share it. See HTTPS and sharing.

Each ssh command opens a new connection. From the internet, that cold connection cost about 1.2 seconds per command on 17 Oct 2026. OpenSSH can keep one connection and run the later commands on it.

Put this in ~/.ssh/config:

Host turm.dev
ControlMaster auto
ControlPath ~/.ssh/cm-%r@%h:%p
ControlPersist 10m

%r is the remote user, so a lobby command and a VM session do not share a socket. The first ssh turm.dev opens the connection. Later commands to that host reuse it until 10 minutes after the last one.
